Ferrari joins the party

Ferrari unveiled their new 499P Hypercar a few days ago. The new 499P will be ready for the 2023 WEC season. The car counts on a 200 KW electric motor powering the front axle and a 500 KW twin-turbo V6 powering the rear (that’s around 930 hp total). It is still to be seen if it’s good or not, however it looks MIGHTY fine.

My only issue with it is that probably it will only be available in 1:43 from $Looksmart$ 😣.

New photos

From time to time, I redo some of my older photos. Well, at least after July 2020. That’s when I got my Sony A7 III, replacing my old Nikon D70. Since the A7 III was a HUGE upgrade, I could do a much better job in showing my models. Besides, this year I made three new dioramas, two race tracks and one “parking lot”. With the better camera and better scenery, I could do better shots. That being so, once in a while I will re-shoot some of my older cars.

Such a gorgeous model deserved better photographs.

And this time I photographed the coolest MacF1 of all times, the 1995 BBA Compétition #42 art car. I recently made a new guardrail, and I thought #42 would look good with it as a backdrop. Without a doubt, the new photos came out much nicer than the previous ones.

Yep, Toyota did it again.

Well, a 1-2 win – not unexpected, was it? Even so, we had a Glickenhaus on the podium, which was quite nice to see. Some say that Toyota, Glickenhaus and Alpine were only “place holders” until things get really serious next year, when the “big boys” will be back. In LMP2 Jota did a great race, and this year was the last race for GTE-Pro, which was kind of sad to see. At least Ferrari didn’t win. Anything 🤣. Shame to see that no Corvette finished on the podium, though (and they started REALLY well).

In the end a nice race. The great part is that there’s just one year to go for Le Mans 2023 🏆.

It’s official: bulls will run at La Sarthe in 2024!

This was just posted on FIA WEC’s site: Lamborghini will offically race at Le Mans!

Lamborghini Squadra Corse will enter the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class in 2024 with its first LMDh prototype, eligible for both FIA WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship (GTP class).

FIA WEC

Obviously Lamborghinis had raced at La Sarthe before, but this will be the first time for a factory effort. For me at least, this was always my gripe with Lamborghini. Looks like I can’t complain anymore.
It was about time! 🐮

Cadillac joins the party

Today Cadillac revealed a small teaser of their upcoming IMSA/WEC Hypercar prototype. They only showed a computer rendering and a very short film on their Instagram account. Therefor, information is so far pretty scarce. If everything goes as planned, the car, co-developed by Dallara and Cadillac Racing, will be ready for the 2023 season. Autosport has a little more to tell.

Things are looking quite bright for 2023…

Peugeot 9X8

And today we get news from Peugeot… Their new 9X8 is still undergoing testing, but boy does that car looks ICE cool! Looks like 2023 is going to be quite interesting 🏁.
