The Bugatti Chiron was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st, 2016. The intention was to take the Veyron’s place, so Bugatti had a real challenge in their hands. How to make a more spectacular car than the Veyron? First things first: stick a bigger engine in it. Well, though the engine was basically the same power plant of the Veyron, power output was higher. So though it’s the same W16 with 7993 cm³ and four turbochargers (with 2-stage turbo-charging), now it delivers an unbelievable 1479 hp. Basically, that’s Saturn V territory. With all that cavalry the Chiron can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds. It reaches 200 km/h 4.1 seconds later, and 300 km/h in a total of 13.6 seconds.

I had hopes for this model…

The Chiron also established a new world record: 0 to 400 km/h in 32.6 seconds. And at 400 km/h it needed 9.4 seconds to brake to 0 again (you can watch it here – 2’22”). The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 420 km/h for safety reasons, but it is believed that it can get to 463 km/h. And like the Veyron, the Chiron also has a carbon fiber body structure, independent suspension, Haldex all-wheel drive system and Ricardo dual-clutch automatic transmission. Only 500 will be made, and the retail price is £2,518,000 a piece, so it will be as exclusive as the Veyron was. I’m a big fan of the Veyron and was dying to also have a Chiron in the Garage, so when this Leo showed up on eBay I took a chance.

Chiron
…but I was sourly disappointed.

However, it looks like I used up all my cheap model luck for 2018 with the 917LH. This one is just craptastically bad . The paint job is sloppy and there’s glue residue in some places. Also, I see lots of flash in metal and plastic parts. So in other words: avoid it at all costs because it’s a piece of junk. And join me in prayers asking that a decent brand makes one at an affordable price.
