The sixth generation of the Turbo (997) came by in 2006. By 2009 (Gen-II) the model received a few slight upgrades. Almost from the beginning, the Turbo became the high-end 911 model. It delivered the best that Porsche could offer in terms of driveability and creature comforts. However, the heart of the car has always been the engine. For this 997 it’s a twin-turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve 3800 cm³ boxer-6 that delivers 523 hp. The S (for “Sport”) designation means it has 30 hp more power than the regular Turbo and a few pricey extras (like ceramic brakes, a torque vectoring system and active engine mounts).

White sports car with black wheels: some people from Northern England can’t have ’em.

Though it looks like “just another 911” (and that’s the beauty of it ), I needed one of the high-end cars in my garage. And according to my sources (that are VERY reliable, I should add), the Turbo S with the special black wheels package like this was only sold to customers with approved good taste (being a Le Mans fan also helped your case and there is also some musical preferences questions on the interview). Since a certain friend has bad taste in cars and music, naturally for me this was the one* to buy in model form. This is my first Minichamps passenger car, and I can say it’s a little more refined in craftsmanship than their average racing cars.
