That\u2019s how the 959 project came to life. It would basically have a rear-end mounted <a href=\"http:\/\/autowpaper.com\/images\/porsche-959-engine-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"engine (opens in a new tab)\">engine<\/a> with four wheel drive and PDK clutch system. And of course, it would have to resemble the 911. The engine was derived from the all-conquering <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"956 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/porsche-956k-weissach-rollout-test-car-1981-minichamps\/\" target=\"_blank\">956<\/a>, a 2849 cm\u00b3 boxer-6 air-cooled but with water-cooled cylinder heads and with two sequential turbos capable of 450 hp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/porsche\/street\/porsche_959_02.jpg\" alt=\"959 Komfort\"\/><figcaption>Fast and comfortable &#8211; up to the 959 that was unheard of in a super car.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Porsche 959 is considered to be the most advanced car built in the 1980s. At the time, super cars were raw, uncomfortable and hard to drive. But the 959 was not only fast but <em>comfortable<\/em>. Porsche built only 329* examples of the 959, and lost money on every single one of them. The car was basically a cost-no-object technological <em>tour de force<\/em>. Though quite a few cars of the era could go as fast or even faster, none approached the package speed+comfort+ease of use that the 959 delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/porsche\/street\/porsche_959_03.jpg\" alt=\"959 Komfort\"\/><figcaption>That&#8217;s my dream car, bar none.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Porsche produced the 959 from 1986 to 1988 and offered the car in two levels of trim, &#8220;Sport&#8221; and &#8220;Komfort&#8221;. That translates to race version (29 units built) and road version (294 built). My model is the \u201cKomfort\u201d version. Therefor, it came with all the bells and whistles, like driver-selectable torque split, tire-pressure monitoring and adjustable ride height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w-143.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/grail.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2204\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And the model?
