The business began small, doing repairs and tuning Porsches for local car owners. It also functioned as a support team for Erwin’s racing career. Initially they started with the 911, 914-6 GT, and 934, modified by the brothers to different specs using only the best equipment and parts. If the part needed was not available, they made it themselves. Subsequently due to the good race results and blooming business, they decided to expand. Kremer Racing started not only developing and racing their cars, but also selling them to other race teams. By mid 1970’s Kremer was an established name in world-class racing. They earned such a good reputation that in 1976 Porsche approached them to develop the new 935 for privateer use. This was the first of the 935 K-Series, the 935 K1.

Such a simple livery… To keep a low profile?

Kremer was one of the first customers for the 935, but they knew the car could be improved. Therefore, to make it better, they started a partnership with DP Motorsport. Led by engineer Ekkehard Zimmerman, DP Motorsport handled the highly modified and hand-made body work, while Kremer handled the power plant. What Kremer did was expand the original 12 valves SOHC flat-6 to 3164 cm³. Using twin KKK turbos and an air-to-air intercooler, thus they were able to extract an unheard of 750 hp.

The mighty 935, in all it’s glory.

The result? Without a doubt the most famous of all the mighty 935s. To me it is a grail model and my most anticipated 935, only second to Moby Dick.
