Rossignol <br>Team: <i>Robert Bloch<\/i> <br>Race: 1st GC (S 3.5 &nbsp;class) at Le Mans in 1926 <br>Ixo - LM 1926 (diecast)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-small-font-size\"><span style=\"color: #919191;\">Published 08\/18\/18<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/lorraine-dietrich-b3-6-5-1925-ixo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lorraine-Dietrich B3-6 #5 (07\/30\/18)<\/a>:<br> Initially specializing in railway equipment, the <i>\u201cSoci\u00e9t\u00e9 Lorraine des Anciens \u00c9tablissements de Dietrich &amp; Cie de Lun\u00e9ville\u201d<\/i>, better known as Lorraine-Dietrich, began making automobiles in 1896. After manufacturing military equipment (including aircraft engines) during the First World War, the company started producing cars. In 1922 technical director Marius Barbarou introduced the new B3-6 model. The following year the manufacturer took part in the first edition of the <i>24 Heures du Mans<\/i> in 1923, and their B3-6 managed an eighth 8th place. Subsequently Lorraine-Dietrich was back at La Sarthe the next year, and again with a B3-6 did even better, scoring a second and third places. But the next year, in 1925, the B3-6 came in<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lemans.org\/media\/cache\/news_show\/assets\/fileuploads\/57\/4f\/574f55063c968.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\"> first place<\/a> overall.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/i-o\/lorraine_6_02.jpg\" alt=\"B3-6\"\/><figcaption>Boat tail, anyone?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> The B3-6 was powered by an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ultimatecarpage.com\/images\/gallery\/retromobile2011\/Lorraine-Dietrich-B3-6-100299.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">inline-6<\/a>  with 3446 cm\u00b3, hemispherical chambers, 12 valves and SOHC. With the two  Zenith 42 HKG carburetors it produced about 100 hp. With rear wheel  drive, it counted on four gears to transmit power to the ground. Also,  it was one of the first cars to have brakes on all four wheels, with  Dewandre-Reprusseau servo-assisted drum brakes. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/i-o\/lorraine_6_03.jpg\" alt=\"B3-6\"\/><figcaption>Both cars look very similar, the big difference is the spare tire.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">With the good previous results, Lorraine-Dietrich was again at La Sarthe in 1926. The B3-6 took the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lemans-history.com\/imagens\/\/1926\/1926_24h_mans-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">three top spots<\/a> at the podium. Car #6, covered 2,552.414 km at an average speed of 106.35 km\/h, and as a result came in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemans-history.com\/imagens\/\/1926\/1926_06.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"first place (opens in a new tab)\">first place<\/a>. In scale it\u2019s the average \u201cvery nice clunker\u201d from Ixo, but as you see, very similar to the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/lorraine-dietrich-b3-6-5-1925-ixo\/\" target=\"_blank\">1925<\/a> car. BUT, it\u2019s a winner, so it deserves a spot in my collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These clunkers are an interesting case. I&#8217;m not a fan of pre-WWII cars in general, but because of their Le Mans connection, they become interesting. Besides, Ixo also plays a part &#8211; if theses models weren&#8217;t so good, I don&#8217;t think I would be so interested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1926 Lorraine-Dietrich B3-6 Pilots: R.
