Pumpelly\nTeam: <i>Flying Lizard Motorsports<\/i>\nRace: 27th overall (4th in LMGTE-Am class) at Le Mans in <strong>2012<\/strong>\nSpark - S3738 (resin)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Published 07\/29\/18<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">The 997 generation of <a href=\"https:\/\/s1.cdn.autoevolution.com\/images\/gallery\/PORSCHE-911-GT3-RS--997-2--4325_3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">911 GT3 RS<\/a> (Rennsport) was first released in 2006, as an homologation model to be used in a few racing series &#8211; it was basically a street legal racing car. But the RSR was the full-blown race version, specifically developed for GT2 class racing. The car received a beefed-up suspension and a gearbox similar to the one used in the RS Spyder. The engine was the reliable\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.total911.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/RS-4.0-Mezger.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">M97.74<\/a>) 3996 cm\u00b3 flat-6 with 24 valves and DOHC, that in stock form produced 465 ponies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/porsche\/race911\/porsche_911rsr_79_02.jpg\" alt=\"RSR #79\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Average Spark = great model.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flying Lizard had <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn-2.motorsport.com\/static\/img\/amp\/400000\/420000\/421000\/421600\/421662\/s6_40938\/lemans-24-hours-of-le-mans-2012-79-flying-lizard-motorsports-porsche-911-rsr-seth-neiman-d.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two cars<\/a> in the 2012 <i>24 Heures du Mans<\/i>, both of them GT3 RSRs. For the GTE-Pro class they had car #80, and for the GTE-Am <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn-8.motorsport.com\/static\/img\/mgl\/1400000\/1410000\/1416000\/1416800\/1416838\/s8\/lemans-24-hours-of-le-mans-2012-79-flying-lizard-motorsports-porsche-911-rsr-seth-neiman-d.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">car #79<\/a> (#WP0ZZZ99Z9S799913). The Pro car didn\u2019t have much luck and abandoned the race in the 114th lap, but this RSR #79 finished 4th in the GTE-Am class, coming in in 27th overall. Unfortunately though, the race of 2012 was the last time a Porsche flied the Flying Lizard colors at La Sarthe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/porsche\/race911\/porsche_911rsr_79_03.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The definition of a model &#8220;Spark good&#8221;.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not much to comment on the model, since it&#8217;s the regular fantastic model from Spark. And that&#8217;s maybe the best thing about Spark: you can count on them, they always deliver. I&#8217;m yet to see a car where they did a hack job (just look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/porsche-911-997-gt3-rsr-80-spark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2011 #80<\/a> car for instance). Well, their older stuff, for today&#8217;s standards, may not be as nice, however the current models are top notch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/zgroup\/porsches_29.jpg\" alt=\"RSR #79\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Warning: reptiles on the track! That represents half of the Le Mans&#8217; Flying Lizard cars available in 1:43.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And with the GT3 RSR #79 the lizard pen grows&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4124\/35506811561_d132bbaa6f_o.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2009 Porsche 911 (997) RSR Pilots: P.
