Elena\nTeam: <em>Citro\u00ebn Total Abu Dhabi WRT<\/em>\nRace: 1st overall at the Catalunya Rally in <strong>2018<\/strong>\nIxo - RAM687 (diecast)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-medium-gray-color has-text-color has-small-font-size\">Published 12\/28\/23<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">With Group B banned in 1986, the World Rally Championship adopted Group A regulations. Yet, in 1997 FIA replaced Group A with a new class: WRC (<em>World Rally Car<\/em>). A WRC class car is based on a production model with a minimum production run of 2500. However, the manufacturer could increase engine displacement up to 2 liters and use force induction. Turbocharged engines had to use an air restrictor, limiting power output to 220 kW (300 hp). Moreover, the car could receive four-wheel drive, a sequential gearbox and a modified suspension, though weighing at least 1230 kg. And just as important, there was no longer need to build the so-called \u201chomologation specials\u201d. In 2011 FIA revised the rules, making the class more restrictive. After that, all engines should be custom-made turbocharged 1600 cm\u00b3 units (called <a href=\"https:\/\/img.over-blog-kiwi.com\/0\/87\/63\/41\/20160927\/ob_2634a4_c3wrc-2017-moteur.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>global race engines<\/em><\/a>). Using a 33 mm restrictor, these engines produced around 400 Nm of torque.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/a-h\/citroen_c3wrc_10_02.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The C3 WRC had a 1.6 liter inline-4 that developed 279.5 kW (380 hp).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Citro\u00ebn debuted in the WRC in 1998, with the Xsara Kit Car. Being front-wheel drive, Citro\u00ebn only campaigned it in asphalt races. Eventually, Citro\u00ebn developed it into the Citro\u00ebn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ultimatecarpage.com\/images\/car\/1600\/Citroen-Xsara-T4-WRC-11542.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Xsara T4 WRC<\/a>, a more powerful four-wheel drive car. Especially in the hands of <a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/4\/41\/Sebastien_Loeb_2014_WTCC_Race_of_Japan.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">S\u00e9bastien Loeb<\/a> and co-driver Daniel Elena, the Xsara achieved great results. However, in 2007 they replaced it with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2007_Citron_C4WRC3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">C4 WRC<\/a>, and the podium finishes persisted. In 2013 Citro\u00ebn began a partnership with Abu Dhabi Racing, and replaced the C4 with the <a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/0\/0a\/Geneva_MotorShow_2013_-_Citroen_DS3_WRC.jpg\/1280px-Geneva_MotorShow_2013_-_Citroen_DS3_WRC.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DS3 WRC<\/a>. At the end of 2015, Citro\u00ebn announced a sabbatical to focus on their new car, the <strong>C3 WRC<\/strong>. Based on the brand\u2019s road-going C3, the C3 WRC debuted in the Monte Carlo Rally, in January of 2017.&nbsp; Unfortunately, an accident retired the car, and further results in 2017 were slim \u2013 only two victories, in Spain and Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/a-h\/citroen_c3wrc_10_03.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ixo\u2019s current rally models, like this C3 WRC and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/ford-rs200-2-ixo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RS200<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/lancia-delta-hf-integrale-16v-5-ixo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delta HF 16v<\/a>, are VERY nice. Fantastic value!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in 2018 Citro\u00ebn was back with the C3 WRC. Moreover, after retiring from full-time WRC participation in 2012, S\u00e9bastien Loeb came back (part time) to Citro\u00ebn. And in the Catalunya Rally, in October, while piloting C3 WRC #10, he finished in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snaplap.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Sebastien-Loeb-Catalunya-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first place<\/a>. Unfortunately though, with the C3 WRC\u2019s only five podium finishes (two wins) that year, Citro\u00ebn finished the championship in fourth. Within the WRC class the playing field in the championship was much more balanced than Group A and B. And with Loeb\u2019s only sporadic participations, Citro\u00ebn lost their trump card. After all, he won the WRC nine times in a row! With all that, the C3 WRC\u2019s career was far from illustrious. However, in scale C3 WRC #10 here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snaplap.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Rally-Catalunya-Loeb-4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">winner<\/a>. One of Ixo\u2019s more recent releases, the model has a great bang-for-the-buck.
