According to Porsche, basically every part of the car, including the engine, was designed from scratch . Only 20% of its parts came from the 964. Tony Hatter was the designer responsible for the external shape of the 993. Though it was clearly based on the previous generation, the 993 had wheel arches more prominent, a smoother front and a different rear bumper design. In 1995 Porsche released the Turbo version, and it came with an all-new air-cooled SOHC twin-turbocharged flat-6. The new engine displaced 3600 cm³ and produced 402 hp. That output was enough to propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 290 km/h.

Looks like a “regular” 911 but the Turbo was the top dog.

The 993 Turbo was the first 911 Turbo model that came standard with all-wheel drive.
