All in all 52 models were produced from 1974 to 1975 and sold to privateers. The car received considerably wider wheel arches and a full-width front spoiler that housed the oil-cooler. But one it’s most distinctive characteristic was the “whale-tail” rear wing. And beneath the huge rear wing was the Type 911/75 flat-6. The 2992 cm³ engine, with an aluminum crankcase and twin-spark ignition, produced around 330 hp. The Porsche Carrera RSR #58 was the GTS class winner of the 1975 24 Heures du Mans.

Looks like a tear on the rear number plate, but it’s not. Minichamps was faithful to the real thing.

My first Minichamps! I can’t say this specific 1:1 is important to me, but I always loved the oh-so-sexy lines of the 3.0 RSR, and since in 1:18 they were rare, now I think I’ll to town with them in 1:43. The model represents very well the 1:1, with a level of detailing that I was used to seeing in the brand’s larger offerings. Fantastic paint job with very crisp details, and the best wheels I’ve seen so far.

A very honest model, and I don’t give it higher praise just because of the pegs behind the headlight lenses.

Bottom line, if I would to criticize the model, it would be the headlights. Until some years ago Minichamps used pegs behind the lenses, giving the headlights the distinctive “dead eyes”. Fortunately, nowadays the brand has got a LOT better there. So, doing the math (sexy car + very good model + Le Mans class winner), this was a no-brainer. I guess that for my first Porsche I think I aced it with the Carrera RSR #58.

1975 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Pilots: J. Fitzpatrick, T. Hezemans, M.
