Capillaire\nTeam: <em>S\u00e9bastien Loeb Racing<\/em>\nRace: 8th overall (4th in LMP2 class) at Le Mans in <strong>2014<\/strong>\nSpark - S4210 (resin)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #919191;\">Published 05\/11\/18<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w-143.com\/index.php\/oreca-03-26-ixo\/\">Oreca O3 #26 (12\/15\/17)<\/a>:<br>The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/ekladata.com\/_UOV0kyB_OhlJIvp2ldfDabXLuI.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">ORECA 03<\/a>  was a LMP2 car built by ORECA specifically to comply with ACO\u2019s 2011  regulations. That meant that the chassis + gearbox couldn\u2019t cost more than \u20ac345,000 and that engines had to be production-based. The basis of the 03 was a light carbon fiber monocoque chassis with an open top bodywork. Basically, the same body and aero package used in ORECA\u2019s LMP1 works car of 2009 and 2010. Suspension is provided by double wishbones and push rods on all four wheels, while stopping power comes from carbon-ceramic disc brakes. The engine was Nissan\u2019s 4494 cm\u00b3 <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zytekautomotive.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/VK45DE-engine-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">VK45DE<\/a>, a naturally aspirated V8 with DOHC and 32 valves that delivered 460 hp. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/i-o\/oreca_03r_24_02.jpg\" alt=\"03R #24\"\/><figcaption>The 03R #24 is a nice model, but nothing exquisite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">For 2014, the French manufacturer updated the 03 with a new aerodynamic package. This new car was the <strong>03R<\/strong>. The chassis is basically the same of the original 03 with just a few tweaks. And for the power plant, Nissan is still the engine supplier (same VK45DE). A total of seven (!) teams used the new car in the 2014 <em>24 Heures du Mans<\/em>, and one of them was <em>S\u00e9bastien Loeb Racing<\/em>. Yep, <em>that<\/em> rally pilot extraordinaire S\u00e9bastien Loeb, in 2012. At Le Mans that year, <a class=\"postlink\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.autonewsinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/24-HEURES-DU-MANS-2014-Pesage-ORECA-Team-Seb-LOEB-Photo-Thierry-COULIBALY-600x399.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">car #24<\/a> was able to finish 4th in class, coming in 8th overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w-143.com\/+upload\/zgroup\/orecas_01.jpg\" alt=\"03R #24\"\/><figcaption>Detail-wise the Spark is marginally better than the Ixo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see, a MUCH better model than my previous review. Well, a model better than the Chiron is not exactly a compliment, but an obligation. However, I\u2019m sure this is not a car for everyone, only for the Le Mans nut. Being honest, it\u2019s kind of a \u201cgeneric LMP2\u201d. In 1:43 the&nbsp;<strong>03R #24<\/strong> frankly just a little better (marginally, really), than my 03 from Ixo. What really tells them apart is the shark fin, but in terms of \u201cextra\u201d detailing there isn&#8217;t much to brag about the Spark.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2014 ORECA 03R Pilots: R.
